It should come as no surprise to anyone that after the D.C. City Council voted to legalize same-sex marriage, those who oppose marriage equality would emerge. It saddens me that in 2010, there are still people in this country who don’t understand that marriage equality for lesbian and gay couples is not a threat to heterosexual marriage. I applaud those states whose citizens have seen the light (my own home state of Connecticut being one of those enlightened states).
