Cardinal Says Politicians Who Support Gay Marriage Are Not Catholic

I don’t think it comes as any surprise to the lesbian and gay community that an Italian Cardinal from Bologna thinks that in order to be considered a Catholic in good standing, politicians must not support any laws concerning same-sex marriage. It’s sad, yes. But not a shock.

According to Cardinal Carlo Caffarra, “It’s impossible to consider oneself a Catholic if that person in one way or another recognizes same-sex marriage as a right.”

Oops! There seems to be a tiny little problem for those Catholics who being in equality, diversity and simple fairness.

The Cardinal was also quoted as saying, “for the church, gay marriage is not part of an individual’s rights.”
