Romney Supports ‘Gay Rights’ but Not Gay Marriage

Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney responded to the Obama administrations claims that he has flip-flopped on his position concerning same-sex marriage.  Romney told the Nashua Telegraph:

“I’m in favour of traditional marriage. I oppose same-sex marriage. At the same time, I don’t believe in discriminating in employment or opportunity for gay individuals.

“So I favour gay rights. I do not favour same-sex marriage. That has been my position all along.”

Romney signed the National Organization for Marriage’s pledge to support a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage.

He has also criticized the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.
