Anchorage’s Proposition 5 Rejected by Voters

Politicians in Anchorage, Alaska don’t seem supportive of gay rights.   Legislation to extend basic rights to lesbians and gays was vetoed by the mayor 35 years ago and again by his son (also mayor) just 3 years ago.

On Tuesday, the citywide ballot measure known as Proposition 5 was defeated by voters.  Yet again, Anchorage has succeeded in not protecting the rights of its gay and lesbian citizens.
