Maryland to Recognize Same-Sex Marriages Performed in Other States and Jurisdictions

In an opinion released by Maryland Attorney General Douglas Gansler, the State of Maryland will immediately begin recognizing same-sex marriages performed by other states and jurisdictions. State agencies will begin offering the same rights and privileges to same-sex couples that were previously only available to opposite-sex couples. Maryland has not yet granted same-sex couples the right to marry in that state.
