Supreme Court Nominee Elena Kagan and the Buzz Over Her Sexuality

President Obama selected Solicitor General of the United States, Elena Kagan, as his nominee for the country’s 112th Supreme Court justice. Right-wing activists have already criticized her decision to briefly bar military recruiters from a campus facility while serving as Dean of Harvard Law School, because the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy violated the school’s anti-discrimination policy.

Vice President, Joe Biden, told ABC’s “Good Morning America” that Kagan was ‘Right’ to Oppose the ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy. (The video clip is viewable on that website).

Kagan has a strong pro-gay record that now leaves her in the ridiculous position of having to address the speculation that she is a lesbian. Oh, please. You just have to love public logic.

Even the White House came to her defense back in April when a CBS blogger questioned Kagan’s sexuality. According to The Daily Caller, “Top White House officials bristled Monday when asked whether they think Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan’s sexuality will become an issue in her confirmation hearings.”

This should be an interesting ride.
